KEY TO ENGLISH LEARNER SUCCESS: PBL. PROVIDING ALL-ROUND LEARNING EXPERIENCES

PBL (Project Based Learning) engages students in a learning process that promotes not only the knowledge of the language but also allows students to develop competences that they will later need in life. It ensures that the students will be able to do something with the language rather than just to know about the language. This methodology provides a real, challenging and engaging environment for students that learn a second language. Students are encouraged to overcome a challenge that can only be achieved if they master the skills the teacher targets when developing the project.

Over the five weeks participants will plan a project that can be carried into their classrooms

PBL – ESL – student`s motivation – authentic learning experiences

This session is designed for language teachers of different levels ( primary and secondary) that are looking for innovative ways to teach. The session focuses on the practical activities in the classroom so it will be more relevant for teachers that are currently teaching.

Session objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to design a PBL project by:

+ designing activities that encourage students' collaboration

+ designing student-centered activities

+ understanding that assessment as part of the learning process. Design some assessment tools.
